All good things often come to an end....

Hey  guys,
So in my other post I was rambling on about my new amazing boyfriend...well unfortunately he is now my EX boyfriend.

After having an amazing shopping trip around Town with him which ended with a cheeky kiss, my best friend, the same girl I was talking about in my old post, came to sleep at mine. Long story short we were awake on FaceTime to Specs and DJ on and off all night till about 5:30 am the following morning and the last thing he told me to do was to check his most recent facebook post then he hung up on us. So we checked the post and it said that DJ was in a relationship with (another girl who I am not going to name). HE CHEATED ON ME. I felt physically sick. However, me and my friend were pretty drunk anyway so we can't remember every detail anyway.
The best thing about having an amazing friend like her is that when we woke up the following morning our SnapChat stories were hilarious. We had completely humiliated DJ and she made me feel so much better about our break up that I wasn't completely devastated because she had made me see the positives like

  1. I wont have to put up with his smoking
  2. I wont have to put up with his aggressive drunken behavior over FaceTime
  3. And I wont have to put up with the anxiety he was causing me to have
During our relationship my anxiety has been extremely bad because I have put up with a lot of crap and even just being in a relationship has put me completely out of my comfort zone causing me to over think every single little tiny detail making me get panicky over nothing.

So, although I feel a little heart broken, I have to think of the positives and my anxiety has been a whole lot better since our breakup (which by the way it was 2 nights ago now) and I can already see the difference.

On a brighter side of things something has happened in my family life which I feel a whole bunch of emotions about so stay tuned for a new blog post about this topic ;-)

And on an even brighter note "It's Christmas Eve, Eve" (try name that program where they say that)

Anyway bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

My favourite quotes from my favourite books

Hey guys,
So for my second post this evening I really want to give you a list of my favourite quotes from two incredible books that I love at the minute, All The Bright Places and Billy and Me. So here they are:

From All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven:
          1) "You are all the colours in one, at full brightness"
          2) " We do not remember days, we remember moments"
          3) "Sometimes there's beauty in the tough words - it's all in how you read them"
          4) "The future is uncertain, but that can be a good thing"
          5) "Before I die I want to ________"
          6) "Let's go. Let's count for something. Let's get off that ledge"
          7) "Disguise the pain. Don't call attention. Don't be noticed"
          8) "The problem with people is they forget that most of the time it's the small things that                       count. Everyone's so busy waiting in the Waiting Place"
          9) "If there's one thing I know, it's that no one can promise anything"
         10) "Maybe even the smallest places mean something"
From Billy and ME by Giovanna Fletcher:
          1) "Love makes life worth living, not money"
          2) "I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship"
          3) "There's no point worrying until we know what we're worrying about"
          4) "I have for the first time found what I can truly love - I have found you"
          5) "I preferred to blend into the background unnoticed. I felt safer that way"
          6) "You've got to make the most of life and not let these little opportunities pass you by"
          7) "The fear of getting close to someone if they leave"
          8) "I think it's funny how life can lead you down certain paths which you wouldn't have                     taken otherwise"
          9) "There's only so long you can live in a fantasy world before the reality comes along to                     sharply put you back in your place"
         10) "I wish I could bottle up the feelings of love inside and save them for a rainy day - to                      remind myself of their magnitude in those moments of doubt"

Okay so that's my favourite quotes from some amazing books which I highly recommend you have a read of if you haven't already.

Question of the day:
What is your favourite quote?

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep, slowly then all at once"

Hey guys,
A lot has changed since my last blog post. I know that it's been about 2 months since I last posted on here but I have been totally busy with exams that I barely had time to see my horse never mind writing a blog post.
So, one of the biggest change that has happened in my life is that I have found an amazing lad who I love so very much. He's the greatest person alive and I am so happy to be a part of his life.

How did we meet?
It all started when my best friend was on FaceTime to me telling me about this boy (who, for the sake of this blog post, I am going to call Specs). She was telling me about how she is "talking" (which basically means the stage before any relationship where you get to know each other and you see if they are the one you want to share your life with etc) to Specs and she was telling me about Specs' friend (who I am going to call DJ for the sake of this blog) so I found him on Facebook and sent him a friend request. Whilst I was on FaceTime to my friend DJ sent me a message asking me who I was. After talking to him for a good half hour we starting getting to know each other etc and we really connected. We continued "talking" to each other over messenger for the next few days and each message I received gave me this weird butterfly feeling in my stomach and that's how I knew that I really liked him a lot.
A couple of days later I met up with him at school and it was a bit awkward at first as my friend and his friend were both stood there so DJ and I were feeling a tad bit nervous but we soon chilled out after a while. However, we had our first argument when he told me that he did something and I didn't believe him as it was ridiculously stupid and so after I told him that I didn't believe him he got annoyed with me and I got annoyed with him. The next day he apologised to me and I did the same. We were soon back to normal. Then a couple of days later he asked me out and of course I said yes but then, thanks to my anxiety, I started having second thoughts so I had to end it pretty much the next day. He totally understood my reasons and so we weren't arguing or falling out. Then I had a total breakdown because I just ended a relationship with the one person I loved so I met up with him and we were talking and I ended up giving him a massive hug and now we are back in the "talking" stage.
This time round, it feels different. No more second thoughts. No more drama. Nothing other than true feelings.
I'm meeting up with him in town on Wednesday (the day after tomorrow) and I cannot wait. To be able to spend a day with the one person I love is the best thing that could ever happen to me.

The hardest thing:
The hardest thing about all of this is that he is my first ever proper boyfriend and he knows that and respects that I haven't kissed anyone before and that I have no clue what I am doing so he knows not to rush into things. It is just hard though because I am literally going into this clueless. I don't know how relationships work but the one thing I do know is that I love him very much and he loves me even more and that is all that matters I suppose.

A bit about DJ:
DJ (obviously not his real name but I am not gonna tell you what it is as it isn't fair on him) goes to the same school as me, however he is in the year above me (Y11). He is quite 'badass' and does get onto trouble quite a lot (but don't worry guys I'm not gonna turn into a 'badass' girl who skips class or anything haha). I can't really tell you too much as I promised to keep his secrets (sorrryyyy).

I told him about my anxiety and my panic attacks and how they have almost taken over my life and he really understands and wants to help me get through them. I also told him that Spencer (my horse) will always come before him and he understands that too although they still need to meet ;)

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep,, slowly then all at once" - John Green
I found this quote and found it so fitting to my love life. DJ and I fell in love with each other slowly and then all at once.

I will try and keep you posted more often on this blog as it is the Christmas holidays so I will have more time to write and publish more posts.

Hope you have a lovely day!

Bye for now,, GemsBlog x x x

Hey guys,

This morning i was talking to my friend about a book that I read the other day called "All the bright places" and it got me thinking.

Thinking about adventures.
Thinking about how we take things for granted.
Thinking about how we don't live forever.

It made me realise that there are so many beautiful and unique places around me that I have never visited and even those that I have visited, how much I take them for granted.

This has made me even more hungry and desperate to go travelling. See the world through different eyes. Make effort to see more of the countryside and big, cities like London and Manchester.

I think the point that I am trying to make is that life is short so grab the opportunity whilst it's still there. Go traveling. Go exploring. Do things and see things that you've never seen before. Don't take anything for granted because you never know when we might take our last breath knowing that we could have done the things we said we will "do later" or "next year".

Starting tomorrow I am going to wake up and be thankful for all the good in my life. Go places I've never been to before and appreciate all the little things in my life that make me happy.

My mum and I have already got a list of places we want to go to soon and I can't wait because starting tomorrow I am going to be a whole new person.

New views.
New opinions.
New adventures.

October 2016 Favorites...

Hey guys,

Today's post is about my October favourites. I know it's not the end of October yet but I've been wanting to write this post for the past couple of days now so I thought why not just do it now.

1)     My Ariat coat - I talked about how amazing this coat is in one of my previous blog post so it is only right that I put this in my first monthly favourites. I've been wearing it everyday for the past month since the weather has gotten colder and it has made me feel all toasty and warm.

2)     Spencer - Without a doubt he is definitely going to be part of my monthly favourites! He is my best friend and I love him with all my heart! He's literally the best horse ever! I see him everyday and he makes me very happy and loved.
This is Spencer - I have done a whole blog post about him too (CLICK HERE to read my post)

3)     All The Bright Places - Oh. My. Goodness. This book is incredible. I bought this with 7 other books that is part of Zoe Sugg's book club and it is the only one I have read so far but I LOVE it. It's about a boy, called Finch, and a girl, called Violet, who meet on the top of the school bell tower where they were about to commit suicide and then from then on they start getting closer. It is a powerful and emotional story because it is all about mental illness and the symptoms of it. It is a very special story that will relate to so many people. I highly recommend that you buy this story because it is so incredibly beautiful.

4)     Volvic strawberry flavoured water - This is a bit of a random favourites but I'm not even joking when I tell you that this is all I have drunk this past month. My skin has improved so much too because I have noticed how clear m skin has got too. I also kind of don't have a choice because I can't drink anything other than water because all of the additives that are in them make me feel very poorly. However, I don't really mind because I am obsessed with this flavored water.

5)     YouTube - This might not be a surprise to many people because I have been watching YouTubers for the past 3/4 years ish and over the past few years I have found more and more incredible channels. Some of my favourite YouTubers are:

  • Zoella
  • PointlessBlog
  • SacconeJolys
  • HayItsMaya
  • Lauren McKinnon
  • Gabriella Lindley
6)     Last but definitely not least Elle King - The most amazing singer I have ever heard. Her voice is incredible and I love her song "Ex's and Oh's". I am obsessed with her album "Love Stuff" and I listen to every song all day everyday because they put me in such a good mood. I love to sing her songs in my head whilst I'm at the stables and riding Spencer because they just put me in an even better mood.

OK that's it. I know that I haven't listed a lot of products but I am sure you won't mind haha!

Question of the day:
What's your favourite thing from this month? Let me know in the comment section below!

Revision tips and techniques...

Hey guys,

So this week has been full of my Y10 Mock exams, which means I have been revising constantly for the past few weeks. Over these past few weeks I have discovered new ways that have helped me revise for my subjects. This has given me the idea to write a blog post about different revision tips and techniques. My revision tips and techniques can be used for any subject so I tend to do the same thing for each of my subjects.

First things first, "tidy space creates tidy mind". Clean your bedroom, office or wherever you are studying. It is impossible to concentrate in a messy environment so spend a short time cleaning your room by putting any litter in the bin and removing any dirty laundry from your "floordrobe".

Once you have cleaned your space, grab a snack, preferably fruit, and a glass of water. Put them on your desk and then you can begin to revise.

1)     Mind maps - Mind maps are one of the most beneficial ways of getting everything you need to know in one place and ready to memorise. I usually put the topic title in the centre or characters names from a play or story then I branch out of that with mini titles. Then off of them mini titles I write an explanation of them and any key quotes or evidence. Then I keep reading over and over them until I remember them. You can also add illustrations to help jog your memory too.

This is my mind map for my English "An Inspector Calls" paper

2)     Flash cards - Flash cards are another great way to remember key words or equations. On one side of the flash card I write the key word or question and then on the other side of the card I write the definition of the key word or answer to the question. Then I either get my friends or mum to read the word out and ill read the answer out or I read the key word myself and try and read the correct answer out without looking.

These are some of my hand written flash cards

These are some flash cards I printed off of Quizlet

3)     Have a folder - Personally I have a ring binder for all of my subjects just for revision. In each folder I have a list of key words for each topic (so for example in my business folder I have a list of my 1.1 key words, 1.2 key words etc) this way you have all of the important key words and definitions in one place. Then in the folders I have lots of past papers to practice answering them. I also have any other pieces of paper that might help me like my mind maps and keywords list.

This is my keywords list that I printed from Quizlet

4)     Past papers - I  cannot stress enough to you guys how much past papers will help you. By practicing past papers you get the general idea of the types of questions that they could ask you. You never know, you might practice a question that could actually be in your exam so you will already no how to answer it to the best of your ability.

5)     Watching YouTube videos - Now, when I say this I mean educational videos. By watching these videos you might learn a new way of doing a technique which could actually help you when it comes to your exam. YouTube videos are also a great way of learning a topic that you are struggling on. So usually what i do is that if I didn't understand something in my lesson, I would write down, either in my school planner or on a piece of paper, what parts I am struggling on and the when I am home I will find a YouTube video on that particular topic and watch it to help me get a better understanding on that topic.

6)     Planners - I have 2 planners. I have a school planner and an Erin Condren planner. Everyone in my school has a planner that gets provided by them and we have to use it and then get our parents to sign it at the end of every week. We use it to keep track of our homework and we write our timetable in it at the start of every year. However, I don't like my school planner as it looks plain and boring so I have purchased an Eric Condren Life Planner. In my planner I write down my subjects and my homework. I also use it as a kind of revision time table so I write down when my exams are and the write what I will revise on what night.

This is my Erin Condren Life Planner

7)     Revision guides - I love revision guides because it has everything that you will need to know in your exam. What I do is a highlight any keywords that are in there and transfer them onto revision cards or turn them into mind maps. The best thing to do with revision guides is to read over them again and again until it sticks in your brain. These are also good for when you might not understand something in your lesson and you can just go home and read over that particular topic.

8)     Revision posters - These are something my teachers let us do in our revision lessons, which is a lesson we usually have before our exam. On these revision posters we put on the most important facts and cover the page in illustrations. These are good for visual learners as it will help you when trying to memorise certain points and topics.

Here are a few links for different revision resources and websites:

Well there you go, my best revision tips and techniques. I hope you found this blog post useful!

Question of the day:
Do you have any other revision techniques? If so leave them in the comments to help myself and others out!

Hey guys,

Here are two of my favourite Ariat clothing items that I have purchased and that I am loving right now:

Ariat Ladies Polo

Ariat Ladies Coat

I received the Ariat Polo top for my 14th Birthday last year (2015) and I am in love with it. It's quite thick which means it is perfect for winter however I still wear it in summer too as it stops me getting sunburnt. The red, navy and white really stand out and haven't faded. I have gotten a few stains on it but it was totally easy to wash off in the washing machine. It is one of the best riding tops that I own.

I then received the Ariat coat for my christmas present last christmas (2015). It is perfect for layering on top of jumpers and tops in the winter and can even be used in the cooler times throughout the year as it has perfect ventilation to let your arms and body breathe once the temperature starts rising higher. The two pockets on either side are super spacious so it fits my phone, keys, gloves and treats for Spencer in there perfectly with extra room for anything else I may need to throw in there. It has a hood that can either be rolled up and then stored away using the velcro attachments or you can leave it unravelled for when it starts raining or snowing. It is also waterproof which means you won't get your under layers, like your polo shirt or fleece, soaking wet either. It has a zip that glides smoothly up and down and then gets hidden under the velcro flap that protects the zip from coming down.

I hope you guys check them products out and love them as much as i do. Let me know if you have any other Ariat products that you love or if you have gotten any of the products i mentioned.

Morning walk around the countryside...

Hey guys,

This afternoon has been good so far. Me, my mum and my older brother, who I don't see very much, took the dogs for a walk around the countryside this morning and it was beautiful. The dogs enjoyed running around, swimming in the pond and playing fetch with their brand new tennis ball.

We started off by putting the dogs into the car to take them to pick up my brother. We arrived a short time later at the countryside.

We took the dogs out f the boot of the car and I instantly felt the fresh, crisp air blow across my face. Leaves were all over the ground, crunching under our feet as we started off on our adventure. My whole body was freezing although I don't mind as I soon warmed up once we got going. After throwing the dogs tennis ball for what seemed like forever we let them have a swim in the pond. My little puppy didn't want to go in so he just watched my big dopey dog, on the bank, swim around trying to find his tennis ball that he had some how managed to loose whilst swimming around there. It was very funny watched him dive into the water however it wasn't funny when he came running straight back out and drenched us in dirty pond water (YUCK)!

I think some of us forget about the beautiful countryside as we are stuck inside with our eyes staring at a phone or computer screen for hours on end. That is one of the main reasons why I love horse riding because I spend nearly all my life outdoors, whether it's bringing horses up from the field or simply walking around the yard admiring all the beautiful animals and wildlife.

Our morning walk was so nice and relaxing and gave me, my mum and my brother time to catch up on everything that's been happening in our lives.

I really want to make this a weekly thing where me and my family can have a nice walk around the countryside and a lovely catch up.

Anyway, I thought I'd just give you a  general catch up about how my day has gone so far. I think me and my mum are going to see Spencer soon so I better sign off.

Question of the day:
Have you been for a walk around the countryside recently?

Bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

P.s Don't worry guys - the dogs do get walked everyday (but me and my mum and brother take them around a countryside walk which is a bit further to get too once every couple of weeks) by my step dad. He takes them after he gets home from work. Me and my mum sometimes go with him too but he prefers the peace and quiet. It's like his escape place so we don't really want to interrupt his down time.

Meet Spencer...

Hey guys,

I have wrote a tiny bit about the new edition to my family (Spencer) but I thought it's only right to dedicate a whole blog post to him as he is the best thing that has happened to me and my family in a long time!

On Wednesday 14th September 2016, me and my mum went to view a gorgeous horse who we found online. When we got there we met up with the owner and her mum. They were nice and friendly and very honest about the horse we had come to view. We walked down with the owner to the horses field and there he was. A beautiful grey, chubby pony. He came trotting up to use and the minute we laid our eyes on him we instantly fell in love. He rubbed his head on my shoulder and I gave him a huuuuge hug and a nice juicy carrot. We brought him back to the top, where the car was, and the owner put his tack on and got on him. She walked down to this massive field where she demonstrated how he rides. It was at this point where we knew he was the one for us. After the owner and the horse had a nice ride around the field, they came back to us. My mum rode him before I did as she couldn't wait any longer! She did exactly what the owner did and rode him around the field. I have never seen my mum look so happy in ages. He smile spread across her face and her eyes twinkled with excitement. After my mu had a ride it was finally my turn. I rode him down to the bottom of the field and back and he was so amazing and safe. As it was dark, we decided that it was time ti head back up top. So i stayed on him and we hacked in back up top to where the owners mum was, brushed him, fed him and then took him back to his field to sleep. After a very long conversation with the owner and her mum we agreed that this gorgeous boy was the horse for us and that we wanted to get the opportunity to loan him...

....This horse was Spencer!

On Monday 19th of September, we were able to move him to the yard where we currently are. Unfortunately, I was at school so I missed the whole moving process but I was told that he was good until he saw the trailer, which was kindly driven by the owner of our stables. At this point, my mum said that he looked like a lipizaner stallion (a gorgeous breed of horses who basically do lots of dancing and fancy movements) which I am gutted that I missed that because my mum said that, although he shouldn't have misbehaved like that, he was looking absolutely amazing! After a good 20 minutes they managed to get him onto the trailer and set off home to the stables. My mum took the owner of Spencer in her car and the owner of our stables drove the trailer. As they arrived at the stables, they unloaded him and put him into his new home. Now was the time when I was finally able to go and see him in his new home. So at 3:30pm on that Monday I rang my mum up to find that she was already on her way to pick me up from our house and take me there. So as fast as I could I got changed and waited outside. When I eventually got there, the owner was waiting there for us to arrive back. We stayed there for a good 3 hours because I rode him, my mum rode him and the owner rode him too, we groomed him and then put his rug on and put him to bed, whilst giving him lots of cuddles, kisses and tasty treats! Then it was time to take the owner back to her house and then we went home to our house. Unfortunately, the owner of Spencer moved away to Manchester, England last weekend (9th October 2016) which means she wont be able to see him as much however me and my mum have told her that we are happy for her to come whenever she likes and whenever she wants to ride him or give him cuddles and treats. She also told me that, when me and Spencer start doing competitions, she wants me to let her know so that she can come and watch and show support.

Since the me and my mum have been improving his fitness, riding him nearly everyday of the week, apart from Tuesdays and Fridays, and trying to help him get rid of his excess weight. He has settled in to his home and has been making friends with lots of the other horses and ponies (and the other animals and humans too). Everybody hear loves him and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us!!!

Fact file about Spencer:

  • He is a Fell X
  • He is grey with black leg markings
  • He is 14.2hh
  • He is 14 years old (like me haha)
  • He is a very happy chap who loves attention, food and posing for the camera
  • He doesn't like tractors
  • He does like to be playing in the field with his lady friends

Question of the day:
Has anything excited happened to you recently? If so let me know in the comments below :-)

Bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

P.s Do keep sending your comments in as I have loved reading them and getting to know you guys better! Have a good day everyone! :-)

Hey guys,

In this post I am going to talk to you about something that will probably be the death of me.......STRESS! (Ok so maybe I am being a little bit dramatic by saying it will be the death of me but guys I am that stressed I think I deserve to be dramatic from time to time !!!!)

Ok, so like I said in one of my previous posts, I have been through more than any other 14 year old girl should go through but this has lead me to get extremely stressed to the point where I could literally kick off about dropping my pen on the floor! For me, stress is a very annoying thing because it leaves me with ridiculously bad headaches and I end up stressing about how stressed I am (if you get what I mean).

Here's an example of how stressed I get over silly things:

I was in my business class the other week and we had to do a quiz on a website our school uses to track our progress and we had to get higher than 80% (which is equivalent to a grade B). However if you didn't get 80% you had to keep taking the quiz over and over again until you got that percentage. Now, taking Business studies for my GCSE's is possibly one of the worst decisions in my school life because, although it "will be useful in our later life" (as my business studies teacher continues to repeat this over and over and over again to me every lesson), it is the most boring and difficult subject I have picked! In the quiz I was getting scores around 30% and this aggravated me so much because no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get that score I needed. So, of course, I became stressed. I sat staring at my computer screen for around 10 minutes trying not to walk out of the classroom. I eventually told sir "I can't do this. It's driving me crazy" and by this time sir new how stressed I was (probably because of the way I said it or because I looked like my head was about to explode). He replied "what bit can't you do" so i responded "All of it. It's too hard". This didn't help the situation at all because sir just replied with "Just try it again" which is one of the most annoying and frustrating thing teachers say simply because I had tried taking the quiz 28 times (to be exact) and for some reason I wasn't getting the score I needed which only got me more stressed and I ended up with a big ass headache for the rest of the day.

So yeah.....I think you understand how stressed I get. However, over the past few days I have found some ways that calm me down when I am having a "mid - life crisis" (which is what I usually tell my teacher when I'm stressed). So I thought I'd share some of my tips to help any of you reading.

1) Just breathe - Wherever you are just take a minute and breathe. Take 10 big deep breaths in and out until you can feel yourself relaxing again.

2) Block it out - Whilst your doing your breathing exercises (see step 1),block out whatever it is that is causing you to be stressed, whether it is an exam you're currently sitting or you're at work and the boss has put a huge stack of paper in front of you that he expects you to read through by the end of the day, just clear your thoughts and focus on the sound of your breath.

3) Leave - If things get really bad and step 1 and step 2 don't work just take yourself out of the situation by leaving the room (obviously not in the middle of an exam or important meeting) and focus on your breathing techniques outside where you have peace and quiet. If you're in a lesson and those 2 steps didn't work because the environment was too loud, just put your hand up and ask your teacher if you can have a minute outside of the classroom. Your teacher should not say "no" because they aren't meant to keep you inside if you are feeling stressed or anxious etc and if your teacher comes outside to talk to you just tell them how you are feeling and that it's all getting on top of you so you just need a minute to clear your head and then go back into the classroom with a PMA (which stands for Positive Mental Attitude - It is something that I like to say a lot especially when I am having a bad day. It's kind of like "Hakuna Matata" from Lion King which means no worries for the rest of your days!).

4) Talk to someone - If things get to the point where you are so stressed you don't feel like you can handle it, just know that there is always someone who you can talk to, whether that is a teacher, a friend,a parent or a councillor. Just know that there is always going to be someone who will offer you a shoulder to cry on etc.

I wish someone had told me these steps a long time ago because there has been times where I've felt like crap and felt like I was going to stay stressed for the rest of my life. However I am just glad that I know them now because the next time I get stressed (which let's face it - it will probably be tomorrow knowing me) I can follow these 4 steps and I will manage to get through it.

I hope this post will help any of you reading this. If you have any tips for helping others through stressful times or even any ways to prevent stress, please leave them in the comments so myself and others can use them too!

Questions of the day:
When were you last stressed out and what did you do to calm yourself down?

By for now, GemsBlog x x x

P.s I have just read back through my post and realised how many times I have said the word "stressed" and I'm not going to lie but it did drive me crazy! Sorry if it annoyed any of you guys lol :)

P.p.s - The images on this blog post do not belong to me nor do I take credit for them!

Hello October....

Hey Guys,

IT'S FINALLY OCTOBER.....and you know what that means.....Halloween, Crispy fresh air, Bonfire night, (then my birthday obvs) and then finally CHRISTMAS!

October, November and December are my favorite months. Don't get me wrong, I love love love summer and all however I adore this time of the year and here's why:

1) Big, cuddly clothes - OMG I love wrapping up warm in a big knitted cardigan with a nice big fluffy coat and some cute boots! I love to wear chunky coats with big furry hoods as I love to snuggle in them, especially around the fire whilst roasting marshmallows! I mean who doesn't love to roast big marshmallows then cover them in melted chocolate and watch the fire crackle away all night long?!?!

2) Fresh air - Now, having the opportunity to work with horses has made me appreciate the fresh crisp air in these months as it is so lovely and clean (and even better when wrapped up in a big, fluffy coat) and it also makes it easier to ride in because as nice as the weather is in summer it can be a big pain in the butt when trying to go for a ride because it makes you all hot and sweaty (not a sexy look - trust me!) and having the cold fresh air is so fun to ride in because you aren't actually too tired to get on and ride and then you can have even longer lessons!

3) Halloween - I absolutely L O V E Halloween so much (mainly because you get free chocolate and sweets whilst wearing cool scary costumes haha) but mainly because I love binge watching scary movies with my friends and family and around the halloween period there are so many amazing new horror films that come out in cinemas!

4) Bonfire night - WooHoo !!! The best part about bonfire night is watching the fireworks shoot high into the air and explode into beautiful and bright colours, filling the dark night sky! Sparklers are even better! I'm like a big kid, running around everywhere making pretty patterns in the air with my sparkler! Some years my mum and stepdad even buy fireworks to set off in our back garden (don't worry though we are super safe and no one is in danger) and its such a beautiful sight seeing all bright colours from our back garden don't you think?

5) My Birthday - The best time of the month! I love my birthday because my family know how to make it special....nice meal, big cake, lots of lovely wishes from everyone! This year we are going for a nice meal and, because it is on a saturday (YAY) we are going to go to the stables and i'll have a birthday ride on Spencer! I honestly couldn't ask for anything else because that is just my idea of perfection!

6) CHRISTMAS!!!!! - YAYAYAYAYAYAY! My favourite time of the year! It's amazing because everybody is happy, I get to spend lots of time with my family, putting the christmas tree up, christmas music, giving people gifts and watching their faces light up when they tare off the wrapping paper with excitement and OMG how could I mum's amazing christmas dinner, which is hands down the best part about christmas day!

I could go on and on about Christmas and my birthday etc but lets concentrate on the present not the future......

I love waking up in the mornings and walking down the street, hearing the crunching of the leaves under my feet and breathing in nice, fresh, crisp air! It is now officially autumn! The trees are looking so beautiful at the minute with their leafless branches just stood there waving in the autumn breeze! I have also noticed that my local supermarket have stocked up with pumpkins already which makes me super excited for halloween! Oh yes...Halloween! Halloween is at the end of this month and I am suuuuuper excited! Me and my friends have already started frightening ourselves by watching scary films, Insidious 1,2 & 3, Paranormal activity, Babadook and many more to get into the proper halloween spirit! So far, I haven't got any plans for Halloween however me and my 2 best friends are looking at possibly going to a Halloween Scarefest Park that's meant to be so scary and fun!

Anyway I better stop rambling on and on about how much I love this time of year!

Question of the day:
What is your favourite part about October, November and December?

Be sure to leave your answer in the comments so I can have a read through and get to know you guys better!!!

Bye for now GemsBlog x x x

Ps - If you haven't guessed already....I am sat here listening to christmas music, Michael Buble of course, because I am in the christmas mood after writing this post! And yes I am fully aware that it is only October but I actually can't control my excitement and i am probably going to watch Elf (which is hands down the best Christmas film going) after I have finished writing this haha!

Everything happens for a reason.....

Hey guys,
So this blog post is going to be a bit of a ramble as I have come to a point in my life where I have realized that.....

......Everything happens for a reason.

To be honest I have been through A LOT for my age, some good but mainly bad however I now know that sometimes the bad things in life can turn into good things.

So, for example, in my last post i explained about how we had to give Random back to her owner as her behavior wasn't good at all. Now, this was bad because I had built up a big bond with her and i couldn't bare the idea that she wasn't going to be a part of my life anymore. However, something good came out of giving Random back and that is that we got Spencer instead who has given me my confidence back and made me happy to ride again.

Like I said earlier, I have been through so much in my life that no 14 year old girl should ever go through and as bad as that is, it has actually changed my views on life and made me into the person that I am today.

People say that "You shouldn't change for anyone" and "Just be yourself" etc but that always used to annoy me because I never knew how to just "be myself" and I still don't always know how to be myself nowadays but my experiences, good and bad, have helped me change my personality and made me realize how to "be myself".

So here is a list of things that have been changed through my experiences with life:

1) Attitude towards others - I no longer let people walk all over me and push me around. If I don't like how people are treating me, I tell them that and then move myself away from them. I am happy with my small friendship group that we have all formed because we treat each other with respect and are always there for each other, especially when we need it most.

2) If you don't like something, change it - Now I don't do this with everything as in life as there are going to be things that we don't like but are going to have to put up with them anyway. However, like I said before, I would be happy to change who I hang around with if I wasn't happy with the way they would treat me because I don't see why anybody should be in the position where they feel upset or uncomfortable around other people.

3) Lastly, don't force a smile upon your face - As Jessie J says "It's OK not to be OK" and I 100% agree with this. I have gone through life trying to force a smile on my face when I actually just want to call up in a ball and cry forever and ever. However I don't understand why I never just let my true emotions show. I do this now and I actually feel more honest with myself. I understand that nobody wan'ts to hang around with a mardy cry baby but at the end of the day, who are you trying to impress? People should like you for who you are not who you are trying to be. If people see that you are upset or having a bad day then your true friends will offer you a shoulder to cry on and the people who don't offer you support aren't really worth worrying over. Why hang around with people who don't care about you when there are people who do really care about you and can help you deal with whatever it is that you are going through?

I know that what I have written is very mixed and a bit all over the place but to be completely honest I am having an off day today and I just want to cry all the time, so I thought that writing how I feel on this blog post will give me, and even you guys, something to look back on when we need a reminder that everything happens for a reason so there will be something good happen to us when we least expect it.

Question of the day:
How do you deal with your "off days" ?

Thank you to anyone who has read my blog posts and please don't hessitate to leave a comment as I will love to get to know you guys :-)

Bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

P.s My mum once told me "Imagine seeing half a glass of water on the side, this represents your views on life. So, if you see this glass of water as 'half empty' then you have a very negative mindset and have some bad views on your life. However, if you see it as being 'half full' then you have a positive mindset and you think that even though it isn't full, you still have half left. So even though you havent got one thing, you still have something else which is just as good.". I use this quote all the time as this usually gets me through the tough times. Hope this helps you through your tough times like it helps me!

Loooooong time no blog......

Hey guys,
I've been super busy recently as summer ended :( and I am now back at school after a very good summer holiday. I haven't made a blog post in ages as I am now in year 10 so I have a lot of studying for my exams (which are just around the corner) and that means I have a hell of coursework and homework and very little time for writing blog posts however I have now settled back into school and got all my timetables sorted so I am able to manage my time more effectively.

Ooooh something exciting has happened in my life too......I am now loaning a new horse called Spencer who is 14 years old and is a Fell X.

(We had to give Random back to her owner and stop loaning her as she was old (20 years old to be exact) and have you ever heard the phrase "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"?...well Random was behaving VERY badly (bolting off with me and my mum, trying to buck us off etc) and apparently she has been doing that all her life, which is something the owner failed to tell us, so we persevered for a good year with her, trying to stop her doing it, using different training methods, different tack etc but it was no good and I wasn't able to go past a certain level in dressage as she basically knocked my confidence completely :( I was sad to give her back as I built such a big bond with her but "all good things come to an end")

However, I have now built an even bigger bond with Spencer. We went to see him a couple of weeks ago, me and my mum both rode him and he was soon as I saw him in his field I fell in L.O.V.E with him and so did the rest of my family and friends! He has started to bring my confidence back after it got knocked by Random and I am finally starting to enjoy riding again (not that I didn't before but every time me and my mum got on Random we were not enjoying it as we were fighting a losing battle).

Spencer is a little unfit and slightly over weight as the owner has been working extra long shifts so never had time to ride him so he was in the field for a few weeks. Therefore me and my mum are both bringing him back into work slowly by riding him everyday for 15/30 minutes and I can already see improvements in him.

Anyway, talking of the devil (well he's really an angel), I have to go as me and my mum are going to go see him....oh and i might even take him for a trail ride around the cross country course (not over the jumps as he's still slightly unfit so just around the jumps) which should be fun as I never got the chance to do that with Random since she would just bolt off everywhere!

Tips for being a girl

Hey guys,
I've been thinking about another blog post that I wanted to write and I've come up with this one....

Tips for being a girl!

Ok, so, I thought I would do this post because I wanted to share my tips and give advise on being a girl.

So in no particular order.....

1.        Don't stay up all night watching Netflix, YouTube or whatever - It might seem like a good idea at the time to binge watch your favourite shows (trust me...I've been there and watched nearly a whole series of Pretty Little Liars resulting me to not go to sleep until 4am) because it is important that you get enough sleep so your brain is more active and you can be prepared for the next day. Also, this step is VERY important on a school night because you don't want to go to sleep at say 2am and then have to wake up at 6am because you're not going to be able to take in the important information you need and this is really bad especially if your exam season is approaching!

2.        Hygiene is very important - the one thing you DO NOT want to do is walk around stinking or have greasy hair because a) people will think you are unhygienic and don't have a wash and b) because it is not good for your hair to not get the nourishing care it needs. As you get older and are entering your teen years your body goes through changes....lots of changes. You get hair in places that you've never had hair before, you will start 'your time of the month' and much more. As you start to develop these changes it is SO important to know how to take care of your body (eg shaving and moisturizing) because this will benefit your skin and its also an excuse to have a pamper evening (which brings me to my next point)

3.        Pamper evenings - these are so important but fun at the same time. It is your time to do things that make you feel relaxed. Maybe spend one or two nights of the week doing a pamper evening. Run a bath (or take a shower if you haven't got a bath), place a bath bomb in, maybe have a glass of wine (if you are old enough) or just have a glass of water (which is extremely hydrating) then once you're out of the bath you are going to want to start moisturizing with your favourite products, pop a face mask on, watch a film and chill out.
My fave Zoella 'Wonder Hand' hand cream
My fave Victoria Secret body lotion

4.        Try and find a new hobby - this is the best way to make new friends and learn new skills. I recently started a new hobby back in January....Piano lessons. I love learning to play the piano because it is something that my granny loved to do since she was a little girl and she even bought me my first key board which she was going to teach me how to play the piano on it but she unfortunately passed away last year (2015) so she never got chance to teach me so I thought that I would get lessons as a way to remember her.

This is Random, a horse I currently loan
Here are a list of hobbies you could try:
  • Horse riding
  • Music lessons
  • Swimming
  • Bike riding
  • Rugby
  • Football
  • Book clubs
  • Afterschool club activities
  • Rainbows/Brownies/Girl guides
  • Photography club
5.        Healthy Eating - I know everybody is a sucker for chocolates and sweets but having too many of these can lead to you living an unhealthy life. Why don't you try eating sweets or chocolate just one night or two nights a week....maybe even on your pamper evening (see step 3). This way you have something to look forward to at the end of a long day or week. For meal times try adding some sort of fruit or veg. So if you have ham sandwiches for lunch, why not try adding lettuce or cucumber and maybe have a banana or apple for a snack. Healthy eating is beneficial for your skin and your weight because it leaves you with  healthy glowing skin and if you stick with eating healthier for long enough you may even end up with a figure to die for!

Fruit Face
6.        Find your own style - Dress the way you want to dress and not just wear uncomfortable clothes because that's what your friends dress like or that's what is fashionable at that time. Having your own style will lead you to be more confident with yourself and let you have clothes you love to wear and not just ones that you will probably never wear again.

7.        Just say yes - If someone asks you if you want to do something, like go to the cinema or something, don't let the inner voice inside your head tell you that you cant do go or you will hate it, just say yes! The likely outcome will be that you love it and you will have a great time! Obviously don't say yes to doing something if you know that it will put you or others in danger because that is not something you want to get yourself involved with. Just say yes to the fun things in life....this could also lead you to find new interests or hobbies (see step 4).

8.        Don't stress over every little thing - Now, coming from a girl who has suffered anxiety since the start of this year, 2016, (which is a whole other blog post) not stressing over every single thing is a challenge for me because unfortunately the inner voice inside my head forces me to stress over everything and anything. However I ALWAYS force myself to not stress and just tell myself everything will be ok! It is not good to be constantly stressing because it can lead you to turn down a lot of opportunities and say no to everything (see step 7).

So there you go, 8 steps on tips for being a girl, however if you are a boy reading this, then these tips could be good for you as well. Also I know that some of these steps might make me sound like a boring fart (eg step 1 and step 5) but I feel like these are just a few tips I have learnt over the past few years.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of my 8 tips and tell me how they turned out!

Question of the day:
 What is your pamper routine?

Bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

p.s I may even do a pamper routine blog either today or in the next few days so you can have a few more helpful tips to help you create your perfect pamper evening!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog - I cant actually believe I'm saying that!

I suppose I should start of by saying a bit about me.
Ok, where to start....

My name is Gemma, but people call me Gem. I am 14 years old and I live in a small town in England.
I've always loved to write, especially stories, however I've always wanted to have my own diary that actually lasts longer than three days. The only problem is all my diary entries would go something like "Hello, I woke up, went to school, ate tea and played on the Xbox with my brother. gtg I'm going to bed bye!"...I know, boring right? So I stumbled across a few blogs (Zoella, JustJodes and BeccaRose) and I loved how they write whatever they want, whenever they want and people could read their posts and share their opinions on it.
I also just came back from my holiday to Ibiza. Whilst I was there, I read 2 books, Girl Online and Girl Online On Tour and it gave me inspiration to start my blog, GemsBlog, because I love how she could just blog what she liked and share .

This blog is going to be full of the things I love such as, photos, general life updates, baking/cooking, beauty but most importantly....horses! I know that this blog is going to be a mix of everything and anything but that's just because I have an interest in many different things.

I'm soooooo sorry this post is quite long and probably a bit hard to follow but I suppose writing these posts will get easier over time.

Thank you to anyone who has read my blog and I hope you stay with me on this online journey.

By for now, GemsBlogs x x x
