Horse DIY's !!!

Hey guys,

So today's blog post is a DIY for all you horsey lovers out there! Ever wondered what to do with all your ribbons that you and your horse or pony have won at competitions? Well here's a few ideas to organise your ribbons:

Idea 1:

What you will need:
          - Pins (preferably the same colour as your ribbons but it doesn't matter if not)
          - A wall (e.g bedroom wall or barn wall)
          - Ribbons (obviously)
What to do:
Okay so first things first you are going to want to organise your ribbons in a way that suits you so that could be in numerical order or colour order etc
Then find an empty space on your wall and decide how you are going to place them. So are you going to put them close together, far apart etc?
Get your pins ready and start pinning the top of your ribbons to the wall in whichever order you prefered.

Idea 2:

What you will need:
          - A grid wall rack (like this one here)
          - Pegs/Clips to clip ribbons onto rack (unless your ribbons have a hook already attached)
          - Ribbons
          - Bare wall
What to do:
Right so the first thing you do is organise your ribbons in any way you want (eg in number order - 1st place to 5th place etc). Then hook the wall rack onto your wall and place the ribbons on them in the order you have chosen, using the pegs or clips (if your ribbon does not have hooks already attached to them), in order to secure your ribbons and prevent them from falling off.

Idea 3:

What you will need:
           - Ribbons
           - String
           - Pegs / Clips
           - Pins
           - Corner of your wall
What to do:
This one's a little more tricky and might need some parental guidance if you aren't aloud to use a lighter or just simply can't reach the corner of your room.
Okay so what you need to do is, with your string, measure the length from one side of your wall to the other in the corner at the top of your wall. Then cut the string to the size that fit. Using a lighter (PARENTS may need to assist at this point) light the end of your string and quickly put out fire on the string. This is to ensure that you have no frayed ends and keeps it looking neater. Using your pins, pin the string to the corner of the wall making sure it's tight and not like a washing line. Now place your ribbons on the string and secure it in place with your pegs or clips. You could even jazz things up by painting your string a different colour or even multicoloured to make it look even better!

I hope you find these DIY's fun and useful. Leave me a comment and let me know how you get on.

Don't forget to share my blog with your friends and family so more and more people can try these cool DIY's!

Bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

All good things often come to an end....

Hey  guys,
So in my other post I was rambling on about my new amazing boyfriend...well unfortunately he is now my EX boyfriend.

After having an amazing shopping trip around Town with him which ended with a cheeky kiss, my best friend, the same girl I was talking about in my old post, came to sleep at mine. Long story short we were awake on FaceTime to Specs and DJ on and off all night till about 5:30 am the following morning and the last thing he told me to do was to check his most recent facebook post then he hung up on us. So we checked the post and it said that DJ was in a relationship with (another girl who I am not going to name). HE CHEATED ON ME. I felt physically sick. However, me and my friend were pretty drunk anyway so we can't remember every detail anyway.
The best thing about having an amazing friend like her is that when we woke up the following morning our SnapChat stories were hilarious. We had completely humiliated DJ and she made me feel so much better about our break up that I wasn't completely devastated because she had made me see the positives like

  1. I wont have to put up with his smoking
  2. I wont have to put up with his aggressive drunken behavior over FaceTime
  3. And I wont have to put up with the anxiety he was causing me to have
During our relationship my anxiety has been extremely bad because I have put up with a lot of crap and even just being in a relationship has put me completely out of my comfort zone causing me to over think every single little tiny detail making me get panicky over nothing.

So, although I feel a little heart broken, I have to think of the positives and my anxiety has been a whole lot better since our breakup (which by the way it was 2 nights ago now) and I can already see the difference.

On a brighter side of things something has happened in my family life which I feel a whole bunch of emotions about so stay tuned for a new blog post about this topic ;-)

And on an even brighter note "It's Christmas Eve, Eve" (try name that program where they say that)

Anyway bye for now, GemsBlog x x x

My favourite quotes from my favourite books

Hey guys,
So for my second post this evening I really want to give you a list of my favourite quotes from two incredible books that I love at the minute, All The Bright Places and Billy and Me. So here they are:

From All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven:
          1) "You are all the colours in one, at full brightness"
          2) " We do not remember days, we remember moments"
          3) "Sometimes there's beauty in the tough words - it's all in how you read them"
          4) "The future is uncertain, but that can be a good thing"
          5) "Before I die I want to ________"
          6) "Let's go. Let's count for something. Let's get off that ledge"
          7) "Disguise the pain. Don't call attention. Don't be noticed"
          8) "The problem with people is they forget that most of the time it's the small things that                       count. Everyone's so busy waiting in the Waiting Place"
          9) "If there's one thing I know, it's that no one can promise anything"
         10) "Maybe even the smallest places mean something"
From Billy and ME by Giovanna Fletcher:
          1) "Love makes life worth living, not money"
          2) "I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship"
          3) "There's no point worrying until we know what we're worrying about"
          4) "I have for the first time found what I can truly love - I have found you"
          5) "I preferred to blend into the background unnoticed. I felt safer that way"
          6) "You've got to make the most of life and not let these little opportunities pass you by"
          7) "The fear of getting close to someone if they leave"
          8) "I think it's funny how life can lead you down certain paths which you wouldn't have                     taken otherwise"
          9) "There's only so long you can live in a fantasy world before the reality comes along to                     sharply put you back in your place"
         10) "I wish I could bottle up the feelings of love inside and save them for a rainy day - to                      remind myself of their magnitude in those moments of doubt"

Okay so that's my favourite quotes from some amazing books which I highly recommend you have a read of if you haven't already.

Question of the day:
What is your favourite quote?

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep, slowly then all at once"

Hey guys,
A lot has changed since my last blog post. I know that it's been about 2 months since I last posted on here but I have been totally busy with exams that I barely had time to see my horse never mind writing a blog post.
So, one of the biggest change that has happened in my life is that I have found an amazing lad who I love so very much. He's the greatest person alive and I am so happy to be a part of his life.

How did we meet?
It all started when my best friend was on FaceTime to me telling me about this boy (who, for the sake of this blog post, I am going to call Specs). She was telling me about how she is "talking" (which basically means the stage before any relationship where you get to know each other and you see if they are the one you want to share your life with etc) to Specs and she was telling me about Specs' friend (who I am going to call DJ for the sake of this blog) so I found him on Facebook and sent him a friend request. Whilst I was on FaceTime to my friend DJ sent me a message asking me who I was. After talking to him for a good half hour we starting getting to know each other etc and we really connected. We continued "talking" to each other over messenger for the next few days and each message I received gave me this weird butterfly feeling in my stomach and that's how I knew that I really liked him a lot.
A couple of days later I met up with him at school and it was a bit awkward at first as my friend and his friend were both stood there so DJ and I were feeling a tad bit nervous but we soon chilled out after a while. However, we had our first argument when he told me that he did something and I didn't believe him as it was ridiculously stupid and so after I told him that I didn't believe him he got annoyed with me and I got annoyed with him. The next day he apologised to me and I did the same. We were soon back to normal. Then a couple of days later he asked me out and of course I said yes but then, thanks to my anxiety, I started having second thoughts so I had to end it pretty much the next day. He totally understood my reasons and so we weren't arguing or falling out. Then I had a total breakdown because I just ended a relationship with the one person I loved so I met up with him and we were talking and I ended up giving him a massive hug and now we are back in the "talking" stage.
This time round, it feels different. No more second thoughts. No more drama. Nothing other than true feelings.
I'm meeting up with him in town on Wednesday (the day after tomorrow) and I cannot wait. To be able to spend a day with the one person I love is the best thing that could ever happen to me.

The hardest thing:
The hardest thing about all of this is that he is my first ever proper boyfriend and he knows that and respects that I haven't kissed anyone before and that I have no clue what I am doing so he knows not to rush into things. It is just hard though because I am literally going into this clueless. I don't know how relationships work but the one thing I do know is that I love him very much and he loves me even more and that is all that matters I suppose.

A bit about DJ:
DJ (obviously not his real name but I am not gonna tell you what it is as it isn't fair on him) goes to the same school as me, however he is in the year above me (Y11). He is quite 'badass' and does get onto trouble quite a lot (but don't worry guys I'm not gonna turn into a 'badass' girl who skips class or anything haha). I can't really tell you too much as I promised to keep his secrets (sorrryyyy).

I told him about my anxiety and my panic attacks and how they have almost taken over my life and he really understands and wants to help me get through them. I also told him that Spencer (my horse) will always come before him and he understands that too although they still need to meet ;)

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep,, slowly then all at once" - John Green
I found this quote and found it so fitting to my love life. DJ and I fell in love with each other slowly and then all at once.

I will try and keep you posted more often on this blog as it is the Christmas holidays so I will have more time to write and publish more posts.

Hope you have a lovely day!

Hey guys,

This morning i was talking to my friend about a book that I read the other day called "All the bright places" and it got me thinking.

Thinking about adventures.
Thinking about how we take things for granted.
Thinking about how we don't live forever.

It made me realise that there are so many beautiful and unique places around me that I have never visited and even those that I have visited, how much I take them for granted.

This has made me even more hungry and desperate to go travelling. See the world through different eyes. Make effort to see more of the countryside and big, cities like London and Manchester.

I think the point that I am trying to make is that life is short so grab the opportunity whilst it's still there. Go traveling. Go exploring. Do things and see things that you've never seen before. Don't take anything for granted because you never know when we might take our last breath knowing that we could have done the things we said we will "do later" or "next year".

Starting tomorrow I am going to wake up and be thankful for all the good in my life. Go places I've never been to before and appreciate all the little things in my life that make me happy.

My mum and I have already got a list of places we want to go to soon and I can't wait because starting tomorrow I am going to be a whole new person.

New views.
New opinions.
New adventures.

October 2016 Favorites...

Hey guys,

Today's post is about my October favourites. I know it's not the end of October yet but I've been wanting to write this post for the past couple of days now so I thought why not just do it now.

1)     My Ariat coat - I talked about how amazing this coat is in one of my previous blog post so it is only right that I put this in my first monthly favourites. I've been wearing it everyday for the past month since the weather has gotten colder and it has made me feel all toasty and warm.

2)     Spencer - Without a doubt he is definitely going to be part of my monthly favourites! He is my best friend and I love him with all my heart! He's literally the best horse ever! I see him everyday and he makes me very happy and loved.
This is Spencer - I have done a whole blog post about him too (CLICK HERE to read my post)

3)     All The Bright Places - Oh. My. Goodness. This book is incredible. I bought this with 7 other books that is part of Zoe Sugg's book club and it is the only one I have read so far but I LOVE it. It's about a boy, called Finch, and a girl, called Violet, who meet on the top of the school bell tower where they were about to commit suicide and then from then on they start getting closer. It is a powerful and emotional story because it is all about mental illness and the symptoms of it. It is a very special story that will relate to so many people. I highly recommend that you buy this story because it is so incredibly beautiful.

4)     Volvic strawberry flavoured water - This is a bit of a random favourites but I'm not even joking when I tell you that this is all I have drunk this past month. My skin has improved so much too because I have noticed how clear m skin has got too. I also kind of don't have a choice because I can't drink anything other than water because all of the additives that are in them make me feel very poorly. However, I don't really mind because I am obsessed with this flavored water.

5)     YouTube - This might not be a surprise to many people because I have been watching YouTubers for the past 3/4 years ish and over the past few years I have found more and more incredible channels. Some of my favourite YouTubers are:

  • Zoella
  • PointlessBlog
  • SacconeJolys
  • HayItsMaya
  • Lauren McKinnon
  • Gabriella Lindley
6)     Last but definitely not least Elle King - The most amazing singer I have ever heard. Her voice is incredible and I love her song "Ex's and Oh's". I am obsessed with her album "Love Stuff" and I listen to every song all day everyday because they put me in such a good mood. I love to sing her songs in my head whilst I'm at the stables and riding Spencer because they just put me in an even better mood.

OK that's it. I know that I haven't listed a lot of products but I am sure you won't mind haha!

Question of the day:
What's your favourite thing from this month? Let me know in the comment section below!

Revision tips and techniques...

Hey guys,

So this week has been full of my Y10 Mock exams, which means I have been revising constantly for the past few weeks. Over these past few weeks I have discovered new ways that have helped me revise for my subjects. This has given me the idea to write a blog post about different revision tips and techniques. My revision tips and techniques can be used for any subject so I tend to do the same thing for each of my subjects.

First things first, "tidy space creates tidy mind". Clean your bedroom, office or wherever you are studying. It is impossible to concentrate in a messy environment so spend a short time cleaning your room by putting any litter in the bin and removing any dirty laundry from your "floordrobe".

Once you have cleaned your space, grab a snack, preferably fruit, and a glass of water. Put them on your desk and then you can begin to revise.

1)     Mind maps - Mind maps are one of the most beneficial ways of getting everything you need to know in one place and ready to memorise. I usually put the topic title in the centre or characters names from a play or story then I branch out of that with mini titles. Then off of them mini titles I write an explanation of them and any key quotes or evidence. Then I keep reading over and over them until I remember them. You can also add illustrations to help jog your memory too.

This is my mind map for my English "An Inspector Calls" paper

2)     Flash cards - Flash cards are another great way to remember key words or equations. On one side of the flash card I write the key word or question and then on the other side of the card I write the definition of the key word or answer to the question. Then I either get my friends or mum to read the word out and ill read the answer out or I read the key word myself and try and read the correct answer out without looking.

These are some of my hand written flash cards

These are some flash cards I printed off of Quizlet

3)     Have a folder - Personally I have a ring binder for all of my subjects just for revision. In each folder I have a list of key words for each topic (so for example in my business folder I have a list of my 1.1 key words, 1.2 key words etc) this way you have all of the important key words and definitions in one place. Then in the folders I have lots of past papers to practice answering them. I also have any other pieces of paper that might help me like my mind maps and keywords list.

This is my keywords list that I printed from Quizlet

4)     Past papers - I  cannot stress enough to you guys how much past papers will help you. By practicing past papers you get the general idea of the types of questions that they could ask you. You never know, you might practice a question that could actually be in your exam so you will already no how to answer it to the best of your ability.

5)     Watching YouTube videos - Now, when I say this I mean educational videos. By watching these videos you might learn a new way of doing a technique which could actually help you when it comes to your exam. YouTube videos are also a great way of learning a topic that you are struggling on. So usually what i do is that if I didn't understand something in my lesson, I would write down, either in my school planner or on a piece of paper, what parts I am struggling on and the when I am home I will find a YouTube video on that particular topic and watch it to help me get a better understanding on that topic.

6)     Planners - I have 2 planners. I have a school planner and an Erin Condren planner. Everyone in my school has a planner that gets provided by them and we have to use it and then get our parents to sign it at the end of every week. We use it to keep track of our homework and we write our timetable in it at the start of every year. However, I don't like my school planner as it looks plain and boring so I have purchased an Eric Condren Life Planner. In my planner I write down my subjects and my homework. I also use it as a kind of revision time table so I write down when my exams are and the write what I will revise on what night.

This is my Erin Condren Life Planner

7)     Revision guides - I love revision guides because it has everything that you will need to know in your exam. What I do is a highlight any keywords that are in there and transfer them onto revision cards or turn them into mind maps. The best thing to do with revision guides is to read over them again and again until it sticks in your brain. These are also good for when you might not understand something in your lesson and you can just go home and read over that particular topic.

8)     Revision posters - These are something my teachers let us do in our revision lessons, which is a lesson we usually have before our exam. On these revision posters we put on the most important facts and cover the page in illustrations. These are good for visual learners as it will help you when trying to memorise certain points and topics.

Here are a few links for different revision resources and websites:

Well there you go, my best revision tips and techniques. I hope you found this blog post useful!

Question of the day:
Do you have any other revision techniques? If so leave them in the comments to help myself and others out!
